Hi there! I’m Rick, the writer/director of All Sorts. I was born and raised in Granger, right around the time they started building a ton of dinosaurs. I grew up watching movies at Eastway Cinema in Sunnyside and the Mercy 6-Plex in Yakima. And I’m excited to come back to Central WA to make another movie!
With Cement Suitcase we filmed in Prosser, Grandview, Sunnyside, Granger, Zillah, Toppenish, Wapato, Yakima, and out in the Horse Heaven Hills. And we’re proud to be one of the few movies to do so!
Even though it was a small film, it ended up doing really well! We went to over ten film festivals, won a lot of awards, got a lot of great reviews, and even have a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. We got wide distribution on Cable VOD, and also got picked up by Amazon Prime, Hulu, and iTunes. Even a few years later, people are still writing me to ask to show screenings of the film from far-off places like North Carolina.
It’s taken a lot of hard work, but we’re finally gearing up to shoot another film. I’m so happy! We built an amazing team in Central WA, and I’m excited to see my friends again. I feel like most of the people I met on Cement Suitcase have become lifelong friends. And I’m also excited to make new ones on All Sorts.
Here on the blog we’ll try to update you about our progress on the film. We’ll also post if there are resources that we’re looking for, and if you work in film, or you live in the area, maybe you can help us find it. Feel free to write in with any questions and we’ll try to answer them as much as possible.
So here we go! This is going to be a long journey. I hope you’ll be our travelling companions as we go off into All Sorts.
